What are the 4 levels of IEP?

A

Entry- All new prisoners come in at entry level. Can move to basic or standard

Basic- For prisoners who have demonstrated insufficient commitment to their rehabilitation, behaved badly or not engaged with the regime. They receive minimum entitlement

Standard- For prisoners who are meeting rehabilitation expectations, behaving well and participating in the regime

Enhanced- For prisoners who fully committed to their rehabilitation, meeting behaviour criteria, complying with the regime, and seeking to reduce their risk of reoffending

Who can a prisoner complain to if they are dissatisfied?

How soon after the matter arises must this be done?

A

Three stages:

  • Initial complaints to prison officers
  • If prisoner is dissatisfied can escalate to a manager
  • Can then escalate to the governor

Must submit complain within three months of the matter coming to their attention
