Q
What causes Bronchoconstriction ?
A
- Hypoxia - stimulates carotid and aortic receptors - and produce constriction
- Pain
1
Q
What is resting broncho motor tone mediated by?
A
- Bronchoconstriction - vagus
2. Dilatation - sympathetic nervous system
2
Q
What causes bronchodilatation ?
A
- Pulmonary infiltrates - inhibit vagus
2. Acidosis - via local chemoreceptor responce
3
Q
Features of PE?
A
- Tachypnoea
- Rales
- Loud pulmonary second heart sound
- S3 or S4 gallop
- Cyanosis
- Hypotension
- Raised JVP
ECG - S wave in lead one, Q wave and inverted T wave in lead 3
4
Q
ECG patterns seen in PE?
A
- S1 Q3 T3
- Tachycardia
- RBBB
- AF
- A flutter
- Right axis deviation
- Right atrial dilatation may lead to prominent T waves in inferior leads
5
Q
ARDS
A
- Acute onset of impaired oxygenation
- Sever hypoxia paO2:FiO2 ratio < 200mmHg
- Bilateral diffuse infiltrates of chest x ray
- PCWP < 18mmHg
