It is made out of rings of cartilage
The inner lining of the windpipe has two types of cells
Mucus Secreting cells- To trap the dust particles & bacteria in the form of mucus
Ciliated Cells- The cilia moves the mucus to the back of the mouth and it is swallowed
Adaptations Alevolus have
Large surface area
Thin & Elastic walls
Moist surface

the inhalation of air into lungs
Inhalation
External intercostal muscles contract
Rib cage moves upwards & outwards
The diaphragm contracts
The volume of the thoracic cavity increases
The air pressure in the thoracic cavity decreases
Exhalation
External intercostal muscles relax
Rib cage moves downwards & inwards
The diaphragm relaxes
The volume of the thoracic cavity decreases
The air pressure in the thoracic cavity increases
