Why is water important?

A
  • Essential for drinking, washing, sanitation and cooking.
  • It is also needed for industrial processes
  • Dirty water can cause waterborne diseases like cholera which lead to ill health or death
  • Water is vital to grow crops to feed people and to sell for money

Why is food important?

A
  • Everybody needs a minimum daily calorie intake to live and work
  • Too few calories lead to malnourishment or starvation and higher chance of disease
  • People need a balanced diet and a good number of calories to be healthy and fit for work (this contributes to a strong economy)
