Research Methods: KT 170 Flashcards
Experimental design
Different ways in which the testing of the participants can be organised in relationship to the conditions
Independent group design
Participants are allocated to different groups where each group represents one condition
Repeated measures
All participants take part in all conditions of the experiment
Matches pairs design
Pairs of participants are first matched on some variables that can effect the DV. One member of the pair is assigned to condition A and the other condition B
Random allocation
An attempt to control for participant variables in an independent group design, this ensures that each participant has the same chance of being in 1 condition as any other
Counterbalancing
An attempt to the control the effects of order in repeated measures design. Half experiment the conditions0 in one order, the other for the others
