Research Flashcards
What is the p value
The p value is the probability of the data given that the null hypothesis is true and the assumptions have been met. It is only meaningful If the analysis is run correctly.
What is conservative bias
An increase in false negatives, type 2 errors.
You fail to find a difference (effect) when it is present in the population. “You’re not pregnant”
What is liberal bias
Liberal is an increase in false positives, type 1 errors. You find a difference (effect) when it is not present in the population. ‘You’re pregnant’.
What is construct validity
How well a variable represents the concept it is supposed to capture.
What is the multi store model of memory by Atkinson and Shiffrin
There are 3 stores of memory , the sensory memory decays quickly, a matter of seconds. STM remember longer with rehearsal and LTM which is potentially unlimited. In a linear sequence.
