Why do snakes have forked tongues?
To get direction of where prey is - similar to human ears picking up sounds in different places

Good protection (no flexibility because of it)

Bony carapace, fused to ribs
Lungs are dorsal (underneath) carapace, this is an advantage so they can swim by just floating

Mostly freshwater
Feed on a wide range of prey
