COCP
CI, interactions, SE, advice
CI- breast cancer, smoking >35 years old, migraine with aura, BMI>40, history of clot or hypertension
I- warfarin, St John’s wort, some abx, antihypertensives, antiepileptics
SE- COCP Cycle control, Occasional irregular bleeding, Clotting, CVD, cancer (breast, cyclical), pain
Advice- vomit, diarrhoea within 2 hours of the pill take another one, severe use extra precautions
how often do you change your combined transdermal patch
Every 3 weeks
POP
SE
SE- breast tenderness, headaches, increased appetitie, irregular bleeding, mood changes
How long do contraceptive implants last for?
3 years

Infection
Expulsion
Perforation
Ectopic pregnancy
IUS copper device indications, SE
Indications- contraception, can be inserted within 5 days of unprotected intercourse
PDE5 inhibitors- sildenafil, verandenafil, tadalafil
Cautions, SE
Cautions- hypotension, recent storke, MI, unstable angina, nitrate use
SE- back pain, migraine, flushing, hypotension, visual disturbance, nasal congestion, sudden vision loss (rare)
5A- reductase- finasteride
Indication, advice, SE
I- BPH
Advice- if having intercourse with woman of child bearing age they must use a condom
SE- breast cancer, loss of lipido, impotence, gynaecomastia, suicidal ideation
Alpha-adrenoceptor blockers- Tamsulosin
Indications, cautions, SE
I- BPH
C- postural hypotension, micturation syncope, cataract surgery
SE- postural hypotension, erectile disorders (Such as retrograde ejactulations), intraoperative floppy iris syndrome
