Cardiac arrest medications
Adrenaline 1mg (10ml in 1:10,000) Amiodarone 300mg (150mg after 5 shocks)
Anaphylaxis medications
500 micrograms (0.5ml in 1:1000) IM adrenaline
(6-12 year old 300 micrograms, <6years old 150 micrograms)
Repeat after 5 minutes
Chlorphenamine 10mg IV
Hydrocortisone 200mg IV
Asthma exacerbation treatment
Salbutamol 5mg nebs Ipratropium bromide 500micrograms nebs Steroids IV magnesium sulphate IV aminophylline
COPD exacerbation treatment
5mg salbutamol nebs
500 micrograms ipratropium bromide nebs
steroids
MI treatment
MONA ASpirin 300mg Clopidogrel PCI in 120 minutes thrombolysis within 12 hours
Stroke management
Aspirin 300mg
Thrombolysis within 4.5 hours
Thrombectomy within 24 hours
Epilepsy management
IV lorazepam 4mg
repeat after 5 mins
then phenytoin
Hyperkalaemia management
IV calcium gluconate (10ml of 10% infused over 10 minutes)
Salbutamol 5mg nebs
Insulin/ dextrose infusion (10u actirapid, 50ml of 50% glucose)
Hypoglycaemia management
Conscious- hypokit (10-20mg short acting CHO)
Unconscious- 1mg IM glucagon, 150ml of 10% glucose)
Hyperglycaemia treatment
IV 0.9%NaCl
IV insuin 0.1units/ kg/ hour
Dextrose when glucose less than 14 (dextrose 10%)
Consider K
Common analgesia doses
Paracetamol 1g 4-6 hourly oral/IV Ibuprofen 400mg 6-8 hourly oral Codeine 30mg 4-6 hourly oral Oxycodone 2mg oral/sc (1-2 hourly) Morphine 5mg oral/sc (4 hourly) Oramorph 10mg oral 1 hourly
Common antiemetics
cyclizine 50mg oral/iv
Ondansetron 4-8mg oral/iv
Metocloperamide 10mg oral/iv
Prochloraperazine 3-6mg buccal or 5mg oral
DVT prophylaxis
enoxaparin 40mg SC
TEDS
Overdose drugs
Paracetamol- N-acetylcysteine
Benzodiazepams- flumanezil
Opioids- naloxone 400 micrograms, then 800 micrograms, then 800 micrograms
Pneumonia treatment
Mild- Amoxicillin 1g 8hourly (doxcycyline)
Moderate- Amoxicllin (oral/ IV) + clarithromycin
Severe- IV co-amoxicalv (co-trimaxole) + oral clarithromycin
Aspiration- amoxiclin + metronidazole
