17
Q

What happens when the ovum is expelled from the ovary ?

A

It’s carried by the fimbriae through the fallopian tube where it gets fertilized to the uterus.
If the ovum got fertilized, it’s implanted in the endometrium, otherwise be shed with the endometrium

23
Q

Explain the body part of the uterus

A

The large, central and bulky part

24
Q

Explain the cervix part of the uterus

A

Narrow, neck-like passage at the lower part of the uterus.
It has a superior orifice =internal os and an inferior orifice that opens into the vagina = external os

25
Q
A
26
Q

What are the ligaments of the uterus ?

A

Round ligament - fixes the uterus to the pelvis
Broad ligament - covers the uterus

27
Q

What is the blood supply of uterus ?

A

Uterine vessels

28
Q

What is the function of the uterus ?

A

Carries and helps deliver the full-term fetus through contractions of its muscular wall

29
Q
A
30
Q

What is vagina ?

A

Elastic, muscular canal, connecting the cervix above to the outside(vestibule)
Along its anterior wall, it measures 7.5 cm, while it measures 9cm along its posterior one

31
Q

What is the position of the vagina ?

A

It lies between the urinary bladder and urethra anteriorly and rectum posteriorly

32
Q

What is the blood supply of vagina ?

A

Uterine, ovarian and vaginal arteries
Uterine and vaginal veins

33
Q
A
34
Q

What does the male reproductive system consist of ?

A

External genital organs - testes, epidydimis, penis
Internal genital organs - seminal vesicles, prostate

35
Q

Which part of the male reproductive system is present as external and internal genital organ ?

A

Vas deferens

36
Q
A
37
Q

What are testes?

A

Paired oval organs lying in the scrotum

38
Q

Each testis is formed of what?

A

Coiled seminephrous tubules and suspended to the body with the spermatic cord

39
Q

What arises from each testis ?

A

A number of fine ducts = vasa efferentia

40
Q

What does the vasa efferentia join ?

A

A mass of coiled tube called the epididymis

41
Q

What does the testes produce?

A

The sperms
Hormones - testosterone

42
Q

What is the blood supply of the testes ?

A

Testicular artery - from the aorta
Testicular vein - right vein pore directly into the inferior vena cava and the left one pore directly into the left renal vein

43
Q
A
44
Q

What is epidydimis ?

A

A comma-shaped organ, lying on the upper end of the testis posteriorly

45
Q

What are the parts of the epidydimis?

A

Head → is the large upper end. it lies on the upper end of the testis and is connected to it by vasa efferentia
Body → middle part of the epidydimis
Tail →the lower part of the epididymis. It is continuous with the vascular deferens

46
Q
A
47
Q

What is vas deferens ?

A

Single duct arising from the tail of the epidydimis

48
Q

Where does the vas deferens run ?

A

Runs in the spermatic cord upwards, reaching the posterior surface of the urinary bladder where it joins the ducts of the seminal vesicles forming the ejaculatory ducts

49
Q

Where do the ejaculatory duct opens?

A

In the prostatic urethra

50
Q

What are seminal vesicles ?

A

Paired, pyramidal organs lying on the posterior surface of the urinary bladder

51
Q

What do the duct of the seminal vesicles join?

A

Joins the vas deferens to form the ejaculatory duct

52
Q

What is the prostate ?

A

It is a fibromuscular gland

53
Q

Where does the prostate lie ?

A

Lies in the true pelvis, below the neck of the urinary bladder surrounding the prostatic urethra

54
Q

What is the prostate pierced by ?

A

Urethra - prostatic part
The ejaculatory ducts - that join the prostatic urethra
