RENAL VIVA Flashcards
What does the renal system consist of
Kidneys, urea, urethra, bladder
The functions of the renal system
Filtration of waste products from blood to the urine, filters 200l per day
Maintaining homeostasis
Maintaining acid balance
Collection
What does the kidney consist of
Capsule, cortex, medulla, papilla, catyces, renal pelvis, renal hilem
What does the capsule do
Acts as a protective boundary for the kidney
What does the cortex do
Where the bloods oxygenated and deoxygenated capillary network is
The medulla
Pyramid shaped and work with the capillary and network system as well as connecting to the papilla
The catalyses
Connect to the papilla and onto the renal pelvis to drain away waste into the urea
The urea
Takes urine down the urethra to bladder
The nephrons location
Located in the medulla and cortex of the kidney
Structure of nephron
Closed at one end, the bowman’s capsule, which sits in the cortex.
Open at the other, into the collecting duct.
