flank pain, mass, haematuria (10%)
abnormal LFTs?
anemia
anorexia
metastatic disease
investigations
CT of abdomen and chest mandatory
U&Es
FBC
US- tumour or cyst
DMSA or MAG3 to assess contralateral kidney
treatment
radical nephrectomy
always surgery
IN METASTASES- little effective treatment as RCC is radio and chemo resistant : multitargeted receptor tyrosine kinase inhibitors eg sunitinib, sorafenib or immunotherpay eg interferon alpha or interleukin 1
prognosis
varies hugely depending on TNM stage - T1 95% 5 year survival but if metastasises only 1 year
