Renal Flashcards
0
Q
Nephritis syndrome
A
Huge holes in glomerulus, protein leaks out-> fluids leak into third space–>decrease blood volume so kidneys make more aldosterone–> creating vicious circle.
Low Na+ diet
Leaves urinary casts
1
Q
Gloerulonephritis
S/Sx
Diet?
A
BUN and creat increase
FVE
Diet- decrease protein and Na+, increase carbs
2
Q
Renal failure
S/Sx
A
Increased BUN (>20 ) creatinine ( >1.5) Retaining fluids and all that goes with that. Increased HR, BP, etc Metabolic acidosis
3
Q
Dialysis
What drugs are contraindicated?
A
Anything that will lower BP
Anything filtered by the kidneys
4
Q
Peritoneal dialysis
Dwell time?
Color of fluid?
Diet?
A
10 minutes
Clear, if cloudy, then it is infected (peritonitis)
High protein due to loss of protein from effluents high fiber to decrease paristalsis.
5
Q
BUN levels
A
> 20
6
Q
Creatinine
Levels
A
> 1.5
