How long should crews work at incidents before reliefs are required?
3 hours for physical work, however crews can be detained longer if non physical work is being undertaken. Consider change of watch issues.
At large scale incidents what would you consider?
Create a resource sector for reliefs.

What must the relief plan take in to account?
Effect on incident objectives.
Staff welfare.
Organisational impact on (SR) Strategic resource & normal daily activities.
Minimise the need for staff to work beyond their change of shift.
What are the operational considerations to factor in when considering reliefs?
Physical work/role crews tasked with.
Exposure to weather conditions.
Access to welfare arrangements (food/drink/hygiene facilities)
Conditions of PPE.
B.A. operations.
Dose limitations @ confirmed radiation incidents.
Releasing appliances from neighbouring Brigades.
Travel distances.
USAR - consult with (TA) Tactical advisor.
Off set officer & CU staff reliefs to maintain continuity
When should reliefs be ordered?
90 minutes before there required.
What information is required for officer reliefs?
Number of officers required. Level/role of officers. Quantity of specialist officers required. Time to arrive at incident. RVP location. Tac mode of incident.
Who should be kept informed/updated with large & prolonged reliefs?
RMC.
