If cylinders involved in fire what should the hazard zone be?

Hazard overlay icon on appliance MDT’s.
What are your actions at cylinder incidents for the following -
Non acetylene?
Acetylene or unknown?
Non acetylene - cool to ambient temperature.
Acetylene or unknown - cool for 1 hour before starting CAP test. (Aide mem 6)
Name the persons that can advise the IC at cylinder incidents?
HMEPO.
SA.
(BCGA) British compressed gas association.
Cylinders alight at the valve group may?
In consultation with the HMEPO be turned off, provided -
The cylinder is alight from the valve group- where the hoses attach.
The cylinder is NOT alight from around the neck of the valve - where the valve enters the cylinder.
The valve is fully operable & undamaged.
At what strength do the following cylinders fail?
Steel -
Aluminium -
Composite -
300c
200-250c
will become porous under direct flame.
What is the CAP test?
Stop cooling after 1 hour.
TIC & record temperature.
Observe for violent steaming or rapid drying out on surface.
No water for 15mins.
Apply momentary spray to cylinder, repeat above 4 times. (1 hr)
Who can reduce the Hazard zone?
HMEPO if after round 1 of CAP the cylinder passes. However the CAP should be completed (3 remaining rounds).
HMEPO’s must maintain a what?
A log of all cylinder incidents they attend.
IC to complete what at the end of a cylinder incident?
Complete cylinder handover form 6104.
Acetylene cylinder involved with mechanical shock can start to decompose even if they have not been heated? True or False?
False.
A leaking cylinder should be treated as what?
Hazmats incident.
Actions at a leaking cylinder incident?
If cylinder valve undamaged it can be closed down.
Crews wear PPE as determined by HMEPO or SA.
If cylinder cant be turned off then request (RRT) Rapid response team to monitor atmosphere (DIM equipment)
