- Clothes, hair style, beard, glasses, shoes, finger nails …
- family/upbringing, social origin, religion …
- every person has a different need for distance
- facial expressions (movement of the face / laughing), gestures, shoulders, hands, legs, posture, charisma …
- pitch, choice of words, volume, speed
- “do I like the smell of my counterpart?”
- “Is the stranger superior to me? Strong, dominant, proficient?”
All 7 aspects are perceived by what?
Every one of these aspects is perceived by your sensory organs and stored as a memory in your brain, and thus shaping your individual reality about the opposite person.
Our brain is trained to recognize situations/people/etc. in what ways?
consciously and unconsciously

- Knowing the importance of first impression
- Knowing the power perception can have (positive and negative)
- Be aware of what is conscious and unconscious perception
What are the traps for a Lean Consultant to reflect on perception?
Traps
• Sticking to the first impression and thinking in boxes
• Focusing on one dominant impression and ignoring the whole picture
• The more often we see a person (or location) the less we actual recognize it
(same applies for situations).
