A

-Christians believe that a person’s conscience is the voice of God in their heart and soul, guiding them to do what is right.
-Can be thought of having two sides: Natural instincts- which helps to guide Catholics to instinctively do good and avoid evil.
-Conscience has to be educated-it needs to be shaped, developed and educated.

A

-Compared Jesus’ death with the idea of paying a ransom in the slave trade.
-A slave could be freed if someone paid a ransom to their owner. He said that after the fall of Adam and Eve, humanity became slaves to sin, and the only way to make up for it was to show total obedience to God.
-Jesus paid ransom for the sins of all humans, allowing them to be freed from the effects of sin.

A

-The even that created the need for salvation was when Adam and Eve disobeyed God by eating from the tree of knowledge.
-The tree of Knowledge: Adam and Eve disobeyed God by eating from the tree, Adam and Eve’s rejection of God broke humanity’s relationship with God, the tree of knowledge brought death, by separating humans from God.
-The tree of the Cross: Jesus obeyed God by dying on the Cross, Jesus’ acceptance of God restored humanity’s relationship with God, it brought life by offering the possibility of eternal life in heaven to all people.

A

-It means that the readings remind Catholics that God has guided his people. Through the Gospel, Jesus shows in his words and actions how God loves and forgives all people.
