DDx for decreased visual acuity with Red Eye

A

Iritis (will get photophobia and blurred vision)
Angle closure glaucoma (glurred vision with headache and nuasea)-will also see hazy cornea
Scleritis )will get blurred vision with globe pain to palpation

A

NAT for C+G
10% of 18-24 year olds

If someone has decreased acuity and temple pain what is your diagnosis, workup and management?

A

Giant cell arteritis
Get CRP/ESR
Biopsy artery or get ultrasound if less worried or can’t get biopsy
Treat with IV steroids

20% will still go blind

Tell them not to drive
