Management
Irrigation of eyes with 1 - 3 L of NS for 30 min with bottles or eye irrigating solution
OR
Morgan lens attached to a bag of isotonic solution
Check pH by touching litmus paper to inferior conjnuctival fornix
If pH > 7.4 continue irrigation until pH remains neutral 30 min after last irrigation
After irrigation and maintenance of pH > 7.4 perform eye examination
OPHTHO CONSULT
Corneal clouding
Epithelial defect
All but minor burns
COMPLICATIONS
Scarring of cornea
Permanent vision loss
Loss of eye due to perforation
significance and managementof chemosis
Chemical Conjunctivitis
Erythromycin 0.5% Ointment
Apply 1 cm ribbon to affected eye qid
5-7 days
Optho consult in 24 - 48 hrs
