- genetic factors - chromosomal abnormality

Cervical weakness - Diabetes, thyroid disease
PCOS - Immune factors

- antiphospholipid screening (2 +ve tests at least 12 weeks apart)
- Karyotyping
- Anatomical factors - laparoscopy, pelvic US
