when the candidates for a position are recruited from within the organisation.

what is a job analysis?
the process of gathering all of the available information about a particular job.
what is a job description?
the set out tasks and responsibilities of a job.
includes: job title, place in the hierarchy, duties, tasks and responsibilities.
what is a person specification?
A document used within the recruitment process that outlines the characteristics of the person required to do the job e.g. qualifications, skills and experience.
what is the importance of recruitment?
ensures a business has the right number of employees with the right skills.

the action taken by a business to help identify the best candidate for a job.
what is an interview?
question and answer sessions between an employer and a potential employee
what is psychometric testing?
involves a mixture of:
-aptitude (develop skills +acquire knowledge)
-attainment (level of understanding)
-personality (behaviour)
what is a work trial?
a potential employee tries out the work place for a specified period of time before they’re decided to be hired or not.

before fact-to-face, reduces time spent and costs.

what are some advantages of on-the-job training?
-employees can still be productive
-cheaper
-specific to the work place
-experienced workers training them
what are some disadvantages of on-the-job training?
-slower productivity
-takes up other employees time
-they could learn bad habits from the person training.
-depends upon how many employees need training
advantages of off-the-job training?
-expert training
-more suitable for large numbers
-doesn’t take up employee time, productivity isn’t impacted
-flexible
disadvantages of off-the-job training?
-more expensive
-takes up more time
-don’t get used to the environment, not specific.
