what happens when you use a acetylcholinesterase inhibitor (AChE inhibitor)? (what does acetylcholinesterase do?) how do you counteract AChE inhibitors?
acetylcholinesterase rapidly breaks down ACh, so if you inhibit it then more ACh is available to bind to cholinergic (muscarinic/nicotinic) receptors causing greatly enhanced agonistic effects caused by these receptors (nicotinic causing initial contraction of muscle followed by paralysis, and muscarinic increasing secretions, can severely slow breathing due to bronchoconstriction) to counter AChE inhibitors we can use a muscarinic antagonist like atropine
