Reasoning 3 Flashcards
How does believability influence a conclusion
It makes it easier to make a valid inference
What does the book “Thinking Fast and Slow by Kahneman” say?
That there are two systems of the brain, one for thinking automatically “Fast” and one which is used for more complex problems “Slow”
What are the main differences between the 2 systems talked about in “Thinking Fast and Slow” by Kahneman
System one is automatic and fast, being used for easy mental problems whilst System 2 is used slower and used for more complex problems
What are the three principles of Heuristic analytic theory
Singularity, Relevance, Satisficing
In the Heuristic Analytic theory what does “Singularity” mean
When only a single mental model is considered at a time
In the Heuristic Analytic theory what does “Relevance” mean
Considering the most relevant mental model based on prior knowledge
In the Heuristic analytic theory what is “Satisficing”
When the current mental mode is considered by an analytic system and accepted if adequate
What is Syllogistic reasoning?
A thought that contains two premises and a conclusion
What quantifiers must Syllogisms contain (any not all)
All, no, Some, Some not…
