RCT Flashcards
1
Q
What are the ingredients in odontopaste?
A
- Clindamycin Hcl (5%)
- Triamcinolone (1%)
- Calcium hydroxide (0.5% - not high enough to destroy steroid)
NOTE: zinc oxide base
FUN fact: Odontopaste was developed in Australia!
2
Q
What is bad about employing a 50:50 blend of odontopaste and calcicur?
A
High pH of calcicur destroys steroid component of odontopaste.
3
Q
What is the minimum base to height ratio before cuspal protection is recommended?
A
Min base to height ratio = 1
NOTE: in some cases it is wiser to remove limited amounts of tooth structure to prevent possibly larger uncontrolled loss later.
4
Q
Fun Fact
A
Frank et al recommended cuspal protection whenever the marginal ridge of a pulpless tooth is no longer intact, so the tooth maintains a ‘chain of continuous strength’
