RBC Labeling Flashcards
1
Q
why do we label rbc
A
to visualize the vascular system and look for extravasation through out the body (GI bleed and MUGA)
2
Q
what is the principle behind why rbc labelling works?
A
red blood cells in whole are incubated with stannous ion and then the stannous ion transports across the rbc cell membrane. Once this happens, the TcO4- is added and as it crosses the cell membrane TcO4- binds to hemoglobin molecule
3
Q
how many ways can you label RBC’s
A
2 ways: in vivo and in vitro
