What is l? What does it determine?
The orbital angular momentum quantum number
It determines the subshell (2s, 2p, 2d, etc)
What value can l have?
0 to n - 1
What is m_l? What does it determine?
The magnetic quantum number
It determines the specific orbital (px, pz, py, etc)
What values can m_l have?
From -l to +l
What is m_s and it’s possible values?
Magnetic spin, determines the spin of the electron
Can be +1/2 (up) or -1/2 (down)
What are the n and l values for the 2p orbital?
n = 2
l = 1
What are the wavefunction values for 3pz?
n = 3
l = 1
m_l = -1
What is the corresponding orbital?
n = 2
l = 0
