A

Closed questions produce quantitative data
which is more objectively analysed.
There is less interpretation involved and comparisons can be drawn more easily between data sets

In closed questions, respondents may be forced to select answers which do not represent their real thoughts and feelings, leading to data which is superficial, lacks detail and therefore has lower validity

Open questions produce qualitative data which can provide unexpected answers and rich detail allowing researchers to gain new insights. Such data is rich in depth and detail.
