Aborted engine start criteria

A
  1. EGT does not increase by 25 seconds after fuel control switch moved to run.
  2. No N1 rotation 30 seconds after N2 stabilsed
  3. EGT quikly nears or exceeds start limit (750 degrees)
  4. Oil pressure not normal by engine stabilised at idle

Emergency Landing at Nearest Suitable Airport

A
  1. The non­-normal checklist contains the words “Plan to land at the nearest suitable airport”
  2. Cabin fire or smoke that cannot be immediately and positively determined to be extinguished or eliminated
  3. One main hydraulic system remaining
  4. One main AC power source remaining
  5. When problems occur in the altimeter system and a correct altitude cannot be confirmed safely with other procedures or by use of the standby altimeter
  6. Any other situation where significant adverse effects on safety may be possible if the flight is continued (window damage, fuel filter, reverser unlocked, volcanic ash)

Emergency landing or ditching (PAX) - Captain’s duties

A
  1. Notify of emergency evacuation and issue the necessary instructions + turn on the emergency evacuation switch ­
  2. Go to the centre of the passenger cabin if possible, and direct the evacuation of the passenger cabin
  3. Evacuate oneself after confirming that all passengers and crew have evacuated to the extent possible
  4. Marshal the rafts in the event of a category 2 or 3 ditching
