QRH Flashcards
Aborted engine start criteria
- EGT does not increase by 25 seconds after fuel control switch moved to run.
- No N1 rotation 30 seconds after N2 stabilsed
- EGT quikly nears or exceeds start limit (750 degrees)
- Oil pressure not normal by engine stabilised at idle
Emergency Landing at Nearest Suitable Airport
- The non-normal checklist contains the words “Plan to land at the nearest suitable airport”
- Cabin fire or smoke that cannot be immediately and positively determined to be extinguished or eliminated
- One main hydraulic system remaining
- One main AC power source remaining
- When problems occur in the altimeter system and a correct altitude cannot be confirmed safely with other procedures or by use of the standby altimeter
- Any other situation where significant adverse effects on safety may be possible if the flight is continued (window damage, fuel filter, reverser unlocked, volcanic ash)
QRH 2-1-(4)
From OM
- Unable to lock cockpit door - Unruly behaviour - CAT II or E explosive threat
Emergency landing or ditching (PAX) - Captain’s duties
- Notify of emergency evacuation and issue the necessary instructions + turn on the emergency evacuation switch
- Go to the centre of the passenger cabin if possible, and direct the evacuation of the passenger cabin
- Evacuate oneself after confirming that all passengers and crew have evacuated to the extent possible
- Marshal the rafts in the event of a category 2 or 3 ditching
Emergency landing or ditching (PAX) - Captain’s equipment
- Crash axe
- Flash light
- Megaphone
Come Follow Me
Emergency landing or ditching (PAX) - Co-pilot’s equipment
- Signal kit
2. Flash light
Emergency landing or ditching (PAX) - Copilot’s duties
- Go to forward area of passenger cabin and assist passengers to evacuate
- Evacuate onEself after all nearby passengers have evacuated
GPWS - Below GS Alert - how to cancel?
Push Below GS Light
GPWS - Number of Cautions?
7
GPWS - PF initial actions for Caution?
Correct flight path / configuration until the aural caution stops
GPWS - PF initial actions for Warning?
AP, AT, max thrust, wings level + 20 degrees, speedbrake lever
PLI / stick shaker
So…
“Click, click, push, attitude, speedbrake lever.
GPWS - PM initial actions for Caution?
None!
GPWS - PM initial actions for Warning?
Verify max thrust
Verify all actions have been completed and callout omissions
How many memory items?
8
- 1 Automatic Unlock
- 1 Cabin Altitude
- 1 Aborted Engine Start
- 4 Dual Engine Failure
- 8 Engine Limit or Surge or Stall
- 2 Engine Fire or Engine Severe Damage or Separation
- 1 UNSCHD Stab Trim
- 1 Airspeed Unreliable
Immediate Landing?
- immediate diversion to runway
- in severe situation, consider off-airport landing or ditching
Non-normal Landing Distance Required - How much air distance?
1500’
Number of unnanunciated checklists?
33 including 2 for Rapid Depress (PAX) + (F)
Windshear - criteria (5)
Flight path deviations in excess of:
- 15 KIAS
- VS 500 fpm
- 5 degree pitch
- 1 dot displacement from GS
- unusual thrust lever position for a significant period of time
Windshear - DOPPLER?
Requires water droplets to detect windshear
Windshear - LIDAR?
Does not require water droplets to be present.
NRT, HND, KIX
Windshear - NRT
- LIDAR
- Appears on ATIS if WS detected within previous 30 minutes below 1600’ over runway surface or takeoff / approach area.
Windshear - PF initial actions for Warning?
AP, GA switch, max thrust, AT, wings level + 15 degrees, speedbrake lever, follow FD guidance
So..
click, push, push, click then wings level 15 + degrees, speedbrake, + FD guidance
Windshear - PM initial actions for Warning?
Verify maximum thrust
Verify all actions have been completed and callout any omissions
Windshear - PWS Alerts?
Scanning commences when thrust levers in takeoff position or when below 2,300 AGL
Alerts available 12 seconds after scanning commences
Windshear - PWS Caution
25 degrees out to 3nm
Windshear - PWS Warning
Ground - scans 25 deg either side of a/c & provides a warning out to 3nm
Flight - Same scan, but 1.5nm ahead
Windshear - PWS inhibits?
Cautions: 80kts - 400’ AGL
Warnings: 100kts - 50’ AGL
Passenger Cabin Condition Report items
Criteria: Jeopardises safety or disrupts public order
- Smoke, fire, fumes
- Structural failure, or failure of pressurization system
- Unexpected turbulence or manoeuvring for collision avoidance
- Other situations that may jeopardize safety of flight or disturb public order.
