QF- In-Plant Communications Flashcards
How does the QF system interface with the NG system?
The NG system provides power to the Plant Multiplexing system.
The PMUX system provides control of NGN-L43 and NGN-L44 for the Unit 1 Control Room operators
Where is the Emergency evacuation alarm system powered from?
120VAC from NH system
also has UPS and 2-hour batteries
How does the QF system interface with the NA system?
Various indications from the switchyard are sent to the Control Room using remote multiplex signals.
What control room systems does the QF system interface with?
RK (plant annunciator)
RJ (plant computer)
RM (main control board)
What happens when the plant multiplexing system is lost?
if LMTs or RMTs are lost, indications and controls for equipment are lost
AO will have to operate locally
How does the QF system interface with the NH system?
NH provides power to the In-Plant Communications system.
NH (and NG) provides power to the Plant Multiplexing system.
What is the purpose of the sound powered telephone system? Power source? There is a second, independent system, with a merge switch to connect the two systems together, provided between the control and where?
to allow communication between the Fire
Department and the Control Room during a fire
doesn’t require a power source
maintenance control points
How does the QF system interface with the CW system?
The CW Cooling Tower fans are controlled from the Control Room using remote multiplex signals
What is the purpose of the QF (in-plant communications) system?
to provide convenient and effective operational communications between various plant locations, and between the plant and offsite locations.
What is the purpose of the public address system?
make announcements to a unit or the whole site
8 hour backup power supply
What are some of the QF communication systems available at PVGS?
- EPABX phone system
- sound powered phone system
- two-way radio system
- emergency evacuation alarm system
- public address system
- public and private phone systems
- land lines to local law enforcement
- ringdown phone system to EECC
- back-up power to communication systems
What is the purpose of the two-way radio system? What is in place to enhance the reliability of this system?
provides voice radio communications throughout the PVGS site and the surrounding Emergency Planning Zones (EPZ)
communication links to the Local Law Enforcement Agency and, in conjunction with the APS corporate two-way radio system, the Notification and Alert Network, State and County Emergency Response Organizations
redundant AC power feeds and battery backed UPSs to supply power for a minimum of four hours (can also be supplied by SBOGS during a SBO
What is the purpose of the local and remote multiplexing terminals? How many are there? Where are they powered from? How long does their rechargeable battery last?
provide the Control Room with indications and control for remote plant equipment
they basically convert electrical signals to a digital readout and then convert it into a signal to travel through fiber optics
19, all containing the same components
120VAC
4 hours
What are the only two required communication systems required between the fire department and the control room during a fire?
two-way radio
sound-powered phone system
Where is the EPABX phone system powered from? Where is its battery backup located? Which unit gets the alarms for this system in the case of failure to the battery or charger?
NN
service building battery room (8 hour supply)
