Roll Control Jam
When can you suspect a roll control jam:
Roll Control Jam Procedure:
A roll control jam is to be expected whenever manual aileron control wheel movement is restricted.
Immediate response is important especially if aircraft is in a climb or descent.
If a roll control jam is suspected, the Pilot Flying shall immediately:
- Autopilot - DISENGAGE
If control still jammed:
- ROLL DISC handle - Pull and turn 90°
- Control wheels - Both pilots attempt roll control
- Aircraft controls - Pilot with free controls
Call for Roll Control Jam Checklist.
Pitch Control Jam:
What is a pitch control jam:
Pitch Control Jam Procedure:
A pitch control jam is to be expected whenever manual elevator control wheel movement is restricted.
Immediate response is important especially if aircraft is in a climb or descent. If a pitch control jam is
suspected, the Pilot Flying shall immediately:
Pitch Control Jam Procedure:
- Autopilot -DISENGAGE
- Retain flap setting and approximate airspeed at time of jam.
If control still jammed:
3. Both pilots attempt to control by force against jam.
If unable to overcome jam:
Control Column Force - Relax
PITCH Disconnect handle - Pull and turn 90°
Control Column - Both pilots attempt pitch control
Aircraft control - Pilot with free control column
Call for Pitch Control Jam Checklist.
