Takeoff Briefing

A

Captain states it will be my leg:

  • Call out 80, V1, and rotate.
  • Call any malfunctions
  • If before V1, it will be your decision to abort. After V1, I will continue the takeoff.

Departure Briefing

A

Follows takeoff briefing.

Includes:

Routing (SID, DP, Heading, or special instructions)
Initial Cleared Altitude
SID Plate Review with planned runway.
NAV source to be used (FMS, magenta needles etc.)
Any Special Procedures (Low Vis, Icing)

Example:
(“we are cleared to Boise via the Portland 1 departure, then as filed. Initial climb to 6,000.

The Portland 1 Departure is chart 10-3D, dated 25 August 17, Portland, Oregon. I plan on departing Runway 28L in FMS Mode.”)

Engine Failure Turn Procedure Briefing

A

Basically read it straight off of the
SPECIAL ENG FAIL TAKEOFF PROCEDURES
or
Data Card Written

Can be accomplished one of three ways

  • tFDP (EFB application) Normal method, displays all standard and simple-special procedures
    - Typically done just before engine start.
    - can be accomplished after push-back 4 time
  • Data Card - Same as tFDP, different source
  • Jeppeson 10-7-T Complex Turn procedure
