Q1- Surface Marking Of Joints Flashcards
Glenohumeral joint
Position of the joint is 1cm lateral to the apex of the coracoid process. Acromion process, greater and lesser tubercles.
Elbow
Draw a line from 1cm distal to the lateral epicondyle and 2cm distal to the medial epicondyle. This line will pass inferiorly and medially.
Hip
Place heel of hand on the iliac crest with the fingers pointing distally. Fingers should touch the superior aspect of the greater trochanter.
Medial and lateral condyles and epicondyles, medial and lateral supracondylar lines and the adductor tubercle.
Tibio-femoral joint
With model sitting in crook lying.
Place thumbs on either side of the patella and slide upwards to palpate the gap between the Tibial condyles and the femoral condyles.
Proximal tibio-fibular joint
Articulations are the lateral condyle of the tibia and superomedial surface of the head of the fibula.
Talocrural joint
Draw a concave line 1cm proximal to the distal tip of the medial malleolus that adjoins the lateral malleolus.
Subtalar
Draw a line running horizontally from 1cm distal to the tip of the lateral malleolus to a point 1.5cm distal to the medial malleolus.
1st carpometacarpal joint
articulations are the trapezium and the base of the 1st metacarpal.
Wrist complex
articulations are the distal end of the radius and proximal row of carpal bones.
Patella-femoral joint
articulation between posterior surface of patella and the intercondylar groove of the femur. The medial facet articulates with the medial femoral condyle and the lateral facet articulates with the lateral femoral condyle.
Inferior radioulnar joint
1.5cm lateral to the medial edge of ulna and 1cm proximal to the joint line of the wrist.
Distal tibio-fibular joint
articulations are the fibular notch of the distal tibia and the fibula.
Acromio-clavicular joint
articulation between a slightly convex facet on the lateral end of the clavicle and a slightly concave facet on the anteromedial border of the acromion.
Sternoclavicular joint
articulation between the medial end of the clavicle and the manubrium of the sternum. Draw a curved line concave laterally, approx 1cm in length.
