Pupillary Light Reflexes Flashcards

1
Q

What is the afferent pupillary nerve pathway?

A

Light is detected by the retina and transmitted via the optic nerve (CN2) to the lateral geniculate body in the midbrain.

Q

What is the efferent pupillary nerve pathway?

Q

What is an afferent pupillary defect?

A

When there is no pupil response to light shone on the retina, but when light is shone in the other eye (swinging light test) pupil constricts due to a consensual response.
