Why there is suffering if God is omnibenevolent, potent and scient.
Moral evil
Caused by humans.
Natural evil
Caused naturally.
Covenant
Promise to God of holding up Judaism rules, creating idea of chosen peoples.
Diaspora
Dispersion of Jewish people around the world.
Anti-semitism
Hatred against Jewish people (similar to Islamophobia).
Ghetto
Place all Jews were relocated to
Aksia
Plan to round up Jews to take to concentration camps to kill them.
Inconsistent triad
If God is omni, then he knows, wants to stop, and has the power to stop suffering.
Dukkha
Suffering.
Anicca
Nothing lasts forever.
Anatta
Everything is connected.
Samsara
Cycle of death and rebirth.
Moksha
State of complete understanding and freedom from samsara in Hinduism.
Nibbana
State of complete understanding and freedom from samsara in Buddhism.
Karma
Forward reaching consequences of our choices in this life going to our next.
Free will
We are able to act as we want at all times.
Hard determinism
People have no free will. All actions are results of previous causes.
Soft determinism
People have some control over their actions, but factors like genetics and environment influence our decisions.
Superego
Internal rules we learn from society.
ID
Base impulses and desires.
Ego
How we express internal conflict between rules and desires.
Insha’Allah
God willing.
Existentialism
Way of thinking that asks big questions about meaning of life and why we exist.
Behaviourism
- mind and thoughts can be explained by visible behaviour
- behaviour, minds, and free will are conditioned by environment.
