- CBT just as effective as AD

what are the limitations of the cognitive approach

A

Relapse rates - Shehzad (2017)
- assessed depression in 439 clients every month for 12 months after having CBT
- 42% relapsed within 6 months of ending treatment and 53% a year

  • cases of severe depression individuals may not be able to motivate themselves to take part
  • hard work - unsuitable for those with learning disabilities
