Q
Can you explain how REBT therapy works?
A
- Education- introducing the ABC model.
- Activating event- identification of specific triggering event.
- Beliefs- Identfication of irrational/ unhelpful belids about the event (catastrophising)
- Disputing belief- through socratic questioning to encourage balanced thinking. Replace with rational/flexible thoughts
- Consequences- explore how irrational beliefs actually lead to emotional and behavioural consequences.
- HW- apply model to real-life situations (thought diary, behavioral experiments, role playing)

Weakness- Requires motivation and thus limited for severe cases.
