Gross motor, fine motor, communication and personal-social development
Gross motor development
Flexed legs, toe grasp -> Head up, desensitize toe grasp, strengthen abdominals and back -> Sitting w/forward protective extension -> Trunk rotation -> Free sitting -> Pull to stand -> Walk
Fine motor development
Asymmetric tonic neck reflex (regards own hand), palmar grasp -> Play w/own hands -> Reaching -> Pincer grasp
What may be the case if a mother tells you that her 5 month old is already left handed?
Hemiparesis, motor development should happen asymmetrically
Communication development
Hearing, infant crying, cooing -> Laughing -> Regard for others -> Turn taking -> Joint attention
Personal-social development
Looks at self in mirror -> Point to wants -> Point to pictures in book -> Interact with other kids -> Stack blocks -> Peek-a-boo, patty cake -> Feeds self -> Drinks -> Feeds doll -> Imitates role model
