WHAT IS STRESS?
is an event that is threatening or pierced to be threatening well-being and taxes one abilities.
What is fustration?
Occurs in any situation in which the pursuit of some goals is thwarted.
ex; when you want something, but cant have it
ex; FA program…not getting the check in time to pay for textbooks and classes is annoying.
ex; when u need to be at the airport but u find ur car has a flat tire. this may make you miss ur flight.
What are some examples of daily uplifts?
- payday, gym, music, food, relationships, kids.
What are some examples of daily hassels?
- work, money, traffic, school, grades, chores, parents.
What are daily hassles?
They are the stressors of everyday life as opposed to major life events (e.g. marriage, having children).
- daily hassles correlate with mental health than major events and cumulative effects
The three basic types of stress; chronic stress
threatening events that have a relatively long duration and no time limit.
ex;trying to get out of a large credit card debt.
ex; living with a toothache for years.
The three basic categories of stress; anticipatory stresses.
future events that are perceived to be threatening.
ex; worrying too much about going to the dentist.
The three basic categories of stress; acute stress
threatening events that have a short duration and a clear time period.
ex; getting teeth pulled out, giving a presentation.

Stress in the environment…refers to chronic negative conditions in the environment.
ex; excessive noise, traffic crowding, heat, poverty, pollution
ex;waiting in a crowded room to vote for president. the room is hot and loud.
