MEDICAL MODEL

maladaptive behavior
-behavior interferes with ability to function
-when no longer able to do the duties that are required to do.
-An individual relies on marijuana (weed) as a coping mechanism for stress and anxiety, but their use escalates to the point of interfering with daily life and causing negative consequences. Despite experiencing impaired cognitive function, decreased motivation, and strained relationships, they continue to use weed as their primary coping strategy, which perpetuates their problems rather than addressing the underlying issues
personal distress
-behavior is troubling to the individuals
-An individual experiences overwhelming sadness and hopelessness, indicative of depression, which significantly impairs their daily functioning. Despite recognizing their distress, they find it challenging to seek help or make changes, feeling trapped in a cycle of despair. This personal distress takes a toll on their mental well-being, highlighting the need for intervention and support.

-recurrent attacks of overwhelming anxiety that occur suddenly, unexpectedly

obsessive compulsive disorder (anxiety disorder)
-uncontrollable intrusions of unwanted thoughts (obessions) and urges to engage in senseless rituals (compulsions)
-compulsions are highly ritualistic acts that temporarily reduces anxiety bought on by obsession.
dissociative disorders
-Lose contact with memory, resulting in disruptions in identify.
dissociative amnesia
-is a sudden loss of memory that is too extensive
- no injury
-you loose ur identity
-lose a big chunk of your life.
