A macronutrient made up of amino acids (20 types)
Essential amino acids
The amino acids that can’t be made by the body but are needed
HBV
High biological value protein
- these are foods that contain all the essential amino acids
- milk, meat, cheese, eggs, fish, soya, tofu
LBV
Low biological value protein
- foods that don’t contain all the essential amino acids
- nuts, rice, lentils, beans, seeds, cereals
