What is Prompting and Prompt Fading?

  1. Prompt after SD but before response
  2. Use most-to-least prompting for skill acquisition; minimizes errors but has high risk of prompt dependency
  3. Use least-to-most prompting for mastered skills; has a higher risk of errors occurring but minimizes the risk of prompt dependency

A

Pause between SD and prompt; promotes independence

A

Help initially by giving the client the SD and making it more salient; (such as a visual prompt while a client learns to trace and the independently write letters)
