  1. Provide clear, specific instructions to the client
  2. Give choices
  3. Point out benefits to the client
  4. Keep reinforcers nearby
  5. Be firm, yet calm
  6. Assent based approach: Shows respect for the client and their boundaries; can teach FCT to help client demonstrate assent
