What are promotional methods?
Different methods a business can use to inform consumers about their products and services to persuade consumers to buy them
List promotional methods
Social media, sales promotion, PR, advertising, product placements, sponsorship
AO1 for advertising (describe and explain)
AKA “above the line” promotion. Involves a business paying to have their product/service promoted in a public space. Aims to make consumers aware of a product/service and get them to buy it.
Types of advertising platforms
Newspapers, magazines, TV, internet, billboards, social media
How does target market relate to promotion?
It helps a business to decide what advertising platform to use e.g. to reach young people it may be best to use social media and TV instead of a broadsheet like the Times
What is PR?
Maintaining a good public image by managing the spread of info about the business.
What is the aim of PR?
Make sure public info about the business is as positive as possible and reaches the largest possible audience (e.g. newspaper editorials where a business manages their relationship with different newspapers by sending them articles to publish abou tthe business. Businesses do not pay for this like they would for advertising)
What is sales promotion
Using a temporary promotion to try and boost sales
