projectile motion Flashcards
projectile motion
movement of eithr obejct or human body travelling through air
what factors influence horizontal displacemnt of projectile
height of release
angle of release
speed of release
angle of release
optimum angle of release is dependent of release height and landing height
when release height and angle height are equal, optimum angle of release is 45
e.g long jumper
release height is below landing height then optimal ngle of release is above 45 degrees e.g basketballer
release height is above landing height tehn optmimal angle of release is below 45 e.g shot put
speed of release
the greater the release velocity of a projectile, tjhe greater the horiontal displacement travelled
height of release
greater the release height, results in increase in horizotnal displacement
what are the two factors affecting the flight oath of projectiles
weight and air resistance
cruical in decideing whether a projectile has a flight path which is true parabloa or distorted parabola
projectiles with large weight force and small air resistance follows true parbaolci flight path
e.g shot put has large mass
porjectiles with lighter mas, the effects of air resiatnce results in a flight path which dveiates from a true parabola to a distored parabola e.g shuttlecock
