Progressive Tense Flashcards
Present Progressive Tense/Also Called “Present Participle”
Drop the -ar, -er or -ir ending and add -ando for -ar verbs, and -iendo for -er and -ir verbs. If verb radical ends in a vowel, you add -yendo.
Past Progressive Tense
(Subject +) imperfect tense (second past tense form) of the verb estar + another verb in the progressive tense, which ends in -ando, -iendo, or -yendo.
Future Progressive Tense
(Subject +) simple future tense of the verb estar + another verb in the progressive tense, which ends in -ando, -iendo, or -yendo.
Past Participle
for -ar verbs, drop the ending and add -ado. for -er and -ir verbs, drop the ending and add -ido.
Irregular Past Participle
-er and -ir verbs with stem vowels “a”, “e” or “o” immediately preceding the infinitive ending require a written accent mark over the “í” of the participle. (-ído)
