Adjective Conjugation Flashcards
Adjectives must be conjugated to agree with…
the number and gender of the noun it describes
For adjectives that end in “o”
they are already in singular masculine form. To change to sing. feminine form, remove the “o” and add “a”. To change to masculine plural, change ending to “os” and for feminine plural change ending to “as”.
singular m. “o”
singular f. “a”
plural m. “os”
plural f. “as”
for adjectives that end in “e” and “ista”
They DO NOT change for gender, but they do change for number. “e” becomes “es” and “ista” becomes “istas”
Adjectives that end in a consonant
They DO NOT change for gender, but they do change for number. Just add “es” to whatever ending is already there.
EXCEPTIONS for Adjectives ending in a consonant
- For adjectives that end in z in the singular, change the z to a c before adding the plural ending.
- Adjectives that end in -or, -ón, or -ín do have feminine forms - respectively, -ora, -ona and -ina (you must remove the written accent). Of course, for plural you just ADD “es”.
- BUT, Adjectives ending in -erior DO NOT have a feminine form.
