A
Caused by hyperflexion of neck
Avulsion of spinous processes of C6-7 or T1
Best demoed on lateral c-spine projection

Hangman’s fx
A
Fx through pedicles of C2 with or without subluxation of C2-3
Occurs when neck is extremely hyper-extended
If alive pt is very unstable
Dens is pressing posteriorly into brain stem

A
Comminuted
Occurs as result of axial loading (jumping and landing on feet/diving into H2O head first)
Anterior and posterior arches of C1 are fxed as skull slams into rig
