probability and significance Flashcards
1
Q
null hypothesis
A
psychologists always start off with the perspective that there will be no significant difference found, this is an aim to remain objective
2
Q
alternate hypothesis
A
the experimental hypothesis a statement that any observations are due to real effects, if we accept alt hypothesis we automatically reject null hypothesis
3
Q
type 1 error
A
when you accept the alt hypothesis but the alt hypothesis is false (so should have rejected alt and accepted null)
4
Q
type 2 error
A
when you reject the alt hypothesis but the alt hypothesis was true (so should have accepted the alt and rejected null)
