Multi function devices have capabilities of printers, scanners and other things depending on the model.
Name 4 types of printers
Thermal
Ink-jet
Laser
Impact
What is full-duplex printing?
Printing on both sides of the paper
How do inkjet printers work?
By moving a printhead from side to side on a rail. The printhead ejects tiny dropletts onto the paper.
Which printer uses electronically charged plates to direct the flow of ink coming from the ink fountain?
Ink-jet
What is DPI
Dots per inch. Measurement of clarity in printers.
What is PPM
Pages per minute
What is the full process for laser printers
Process / Queueing up the image in printer memory
Charge / Corona Transfer charges imaging drum
Exposure / Laser writes upon the imaging drum
Toning / Toner jumps to the lasered sections of the drum
Transfer / Paper is charged, passed beneath the tone-covered imaging drum. The toner on the drum jumps to the paper.
Fusing / Heat applied to the toner on the paper to make it stick
What does the erase lamp do in a laser printer
Clears the imaging drum of any charge, encouraging the remaining toner on it to disperse.
What can cause a memory overflow error?
Not enough RAM or too big of a print job
What is an ozone filter
Captures the Ozone in a printer. Needs to be vacuumed regularly.
What is OCR
optical character recognition
If you want a printer that’s always available, what is the solution for you?
A network printer.
What is the downside of a shared printer on a network (non-network computer)
If the computer attached to the printer is not on you cannot print
Where are print jobs stored
Print spooler
