1. Primary survey & interventions
2. Complete History - SAMPLE & OPQRRRST
3. Baseline set of vitals (initial vitals must be a complete set)
4. Meet ALL indications
5. Rule out ALL contraindications
6. Review 6 rights of Medication Administration

Indications
The indications listed are general indications for the use of the drug. This includes functional inquiry questions & physical assessment requirements. These indications were created by JIBC and may differ in local protocols.
Contraindications
Situations in which a drug should NOT be used, even if PT meets indications. Includes functional Inquiry questions & physical assessment requirements

Describes how the drug works within the body. May differ in local protocols.

General range of doses the drug may be given in

Lists possible side effects that have been found during testing. Not all side effects will be found every time a drug is given. However, EMR should know how drug may affect PT
